We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Kung, Professor of Mathematics at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, as TPSE Math’s Director of Strategy & Implementation, on a part-time basis from April 1 through December 31, 2020. In this position, Dave will work with the TPSE Board to cultivate, expand, and drive innovative strategies to execute TPSE’s mission and goals. Among other responsibilities, he will be tasked with building the capacity of the Mathematics Advisory Group (MAG) to serve as an effective resource for advancing the TPSE agenda, and he will play a central role in TPSE’s fundraising efforts.
In addition to being an award-winning teacher, both at St. Mary’s and for The Great Courses, Dave has worked on professional development for college math teachers for over a decade. Through the College Video Math Cases project and MAA College Math Instructor Development Source (CoMInDS) workshops, he has helped expand the use of research-based interactive teaching methods among graduate students. Since 2014 he has served as Director of MAA Project NExT, supporting new faculty in their transition into the profession. He has served TPSE on the MAG since its inception in 2016.
